This Topic is About Getting Youth (Like You) More Engaged in the Political Proccess
1.What do you think governments should do to get youth more involved in politics?
2.In your opinion, why is the voter turnout rate so low among youth?
3.Do you have any suggestions about how the government could reach out to youth better?
4.Do you remember why you voted for the first time? If so, share your experience with us!

I voted for the first time because my parents dragged me to the booth. I am now proud to say that I have never missed an election!I think that families instill voting into their kids, because they can force you to care about something you might not think is all that important to your life.
ReplyDeleteWe can't take voting for granted.
What's that saying? If you don't vote you lose your right to complain. It's true!
p.s. That stupid vote or die thing the states did was really pretty funny. Good pic on the blog q
ReplyDeleteThe First Time I voted was in a pc nomination race for now Minister Jack Hayden. This was the first campaign I was involved in and things quickly picked up after that. This was just about 4 years ago and I remeber I dragged out my brothers, and friends 16+ since the pc consitution allows this.
ReplyDeleteThe actual first provincial election I voted in was Jack Hayden's byelection a few months latter. Jack won the election in the consituency Drumheller Stettler and now he is the Minister of Agriculture.
My first official vote was on campus to vote in the federal election! So thrilling! Since then, haven't missed a vote yet :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so important. People die to be able to vote. Don't take the privilege for granted. Sadly many youth do.
It's not the government's job to get more youth to vote. It is advocate groups and political groups! Who agrees with me?
ReplyDeleteI think stuff like this social media and blogs that PCYA is doing is just excellent to get youth engaged! Good job guys!
The first time I voted was in 2006 in the leadership vote, even dragged my parents out to vote! I then voted in my first actual election in Oct 2007 (municipal) when I turned 18 and I haven't missed an election since then!
ReplyDeleteI agree with anon @ 3:44 that it's not the governments job to get youth to vote, instead Elections Alberta and the school system should be encouraging youth to vote.
