P.C. Roadmap
Where would you like to see the P.C. Party headed?
Even friendlier environmental policies?
Even more competitive for oil and energy investors?
I believe the PC party has to get control of the huge amount of the budget that is spend on Healthcare. There needs to be careful thought and care with due foresight to address the issues presented by Healthcare. Also one solution doesn't work for every department....make sure that the funding and staffing levels are sustainable.
I want to see the PC party return to more grassroots policy process. We need a better way for members to provide feedback on healthcare, energy, environment and education. Before we change our policy we need a new way to do so. I think that the upcoming policy conference we will see steps towards this. I know I will be there to see first hand if the party is really is going to take feedback from its members
I think that Ron LIepert needs to work with the Oil industry to ensure we return to the "Alberta Advantage"
Our health minister needs to continue to work to improve the health care system because throwing money at the issue will not solve the problem. We need to come up with new ways to solve the ever mounting costs. I think that the funding should follow the patients. Instead of budgets being giving at the start of the year money should be distributed at the end according to how many patients were helped. Then we can deal with issues people have now instead of putting them on three year waiting lists.
I think the PC's need to really focus on the fundamentals: things like health care and education, making sure nurses and teachers are paid well and can do their jobs.
I think to engage in more grassroots policy we need to be focussing on the bottom up not top down. this means let the constituency boards have more influence and get feedback from more ppl more often. This can be done through meetings, emails, letters, conference calls, focus groups, policy sessions, and even blogs like this one.

ReplyDeleteMostly I'd like to see our party kick out Ed and get a real leader. Let's face it - that leadership review was not above board.
ReplyDeleteSo if we want the party to connect more with the grassroots when forming policy, how exactly do we facilitate this?
