ReplyDeleteI think that being a progressive conservative is to listen to the citizens of Alberta and ensure their views are being best represented. In recent years PC MLA's have been criticized for not listening to it's party members but I feel that they have been doing an ok job. There definitely is work to be done and I am hoping the party realizes this as well. The upcoming policy conference in March will be a good indicator of this.
ReplyDeleteIt's not being a Wildrose. I was raised a PC, and I'll stay a PC. What can they offer to Albertans that the PC party can't?
ReplyDeleteBeing progressive conservative means taking a pragmatic look at what needs to be done, and doing it. Being progressive conservative means being fiscally responsible, and shrinking the government's influence in ppl's lives.
I always thought it was funny, to combine those two words together. A lot of people think they mean totally different things. But I think it was a good thing to put them together. Progressive means forward looking, and Conservative means fiscal responsibility and small government. Put them together, and you have Alberta in a nutshell. PC is Alberta's advantage.
ReplyDeleteIt's an oxymoron, because conservativsm (especially the brand sold by this government) allows for no real progress. It means appointing your family, friends, and political allies instead of those most qualified. It means using as little imagination as possible when planning economic policy. It means strong partisanship and not listening to the ideas of those that aren't 'on the winning team'. It means tactically shuffling portfolios after gross mishandling. It means thinking politics is a game where the sole objective is longevity. It means toting the party line, even if you have no idea what it means. It means all of those things, and more, but mostly it means you should be ashamed of yourself.
